Hey there,

Due to various screwups I had to install kubuntu 11.10 three times over. Now I'm wondering whether there's something wrong because I've never seen an ubuntu install take that long. I made sure to de-select the "Download updates while installing" option, but on the second run it took 10minutes "Retrieving file X of Y", and about 45 minutes to "Download language packs". I'm on a 60MBit line which should be able to fetch up to 7.5Megabytes per second, and I selected the system to use English anyway.

How much download does a regular install require? I've noticed in the past that the Austrian package sources (which are set due to my location) are extremely slow when it comes to distribution upgrades. I usually set the package manaer to use german or US sources instead. Is there a way to do this on a LiveCD install of kubuntu?
