View Full Version : [ubuntu] Unity laggy

Hi,

since my upgrade from Natty to Oneiric (meanwhile I did a complete re-install) Unity is laggy. In detail, when I move a window - e.g. a terminal window - around on the screen, movement freezes, sometimes for seconds. The mouse pointer reacts on time, but the window movement is laggy - REALLY laggy, in the best case behaving like a chewing gum, in the worst case freezing for several seconds.

This makes work REALLY annoying.

I was looking all around bug reports, played around with the BLUR option and VSYNC option in the compiz-setting-manager, no change at all.

Interestingly enough this behaviour also occurs in Unity 2D on Oneric. It does NOT occur when I switch to gnome3 (gnome-shell) and didn't occur in Natty Unity/Unity2D.

I've been googling around a lot and reviewed several bug reports of compiz and unity - and didnt find anything. I have actually no idea where to start, as I think it is not compiz (cause as I understand, compiz is not running in Unity2D).

This bug drives my crazy, I actually think of downgrading to Natty. No special issues in /var/log/syslog.

So please, any ideas or help?

P.S.
