For some reason, Empathy is now.. "ugly." It's unstyled, there are no balloons, it's not nicely formatted, nothing. Did this happen to anyone else? How do I fix it?

Hi!
It happened to me and I have no idea if there is a way to change it!

Reporting as a bug. Ridiculous.

Well, in my case it looks all right for me. maybe u have old hardware that would not have power to carry ubuntu, coz it drains lots of resources. Hope community will improve it in about 1-3 years.

Ok, quick fix: go into Preferences - Themes, chose any theme other than "Ubuntu", than go back to "Ubuntu". Done!

You can also go ahead and install other themes:

Well, I've got an Intel i7 or some-such, quad-core CPU, 8GB RAM, nVidia card.. so no. :)

Nope, theme change did nothing.

Changing chat theme to classic did work for me.

Actually just changing themes fixes it, then you can go back to whatever theme you want.
