Screen not coming back in 11.10?

So i just upgraded to 11.10 and now whenever i set it to just blank screen when i close the lid, as opposed to suspend, it doesn't come back when i open it back up. and its not like it's suspending because i can still navigate, buttons still work and i know its on because its a true black as apposed to the greenish tint when its actually off, but i just get a black screen.

If you can, try typing your password to see if you can log back in, and on the screen saver settings uncheck the lock screen option.
