I'm trying to install Ubuntu 11.10 from USB stick. I used usb-creator.exe to make bootable stick but when i tried to boot from it i got black screen with blinking white line. I tried using universal USB installer but i got black screen again. I have also checked md5 hash and Ubuntu image is not corrupted. I also tried it with Ubuntu 11.04 without success but my old Ubuntu 8 image worked. Any thoughts on why i get black screen and how to fix it?

I downloaded and tried this images: ubuntu-11.10-desktop-amd64.iso ubuntu-11.10-alternate-amd64.iso ubuntu-11.10-alternate-i386.iso I double checked md5 hashes and none of the images is corrupted. I also checked my USB stick and its not faulty. I tried making usb stick with usb-creator.exe, Universal USB Installer and unetbootin. When i try to boot from usb all i get is black screen with flashing white line.

I used latest ImgBurn to burn ubuntu-11.10-desktop-amd64 image to DVD. I booted from DVD and Ubuntu worked perfectly. This is nice but my second computer doesn't have cd/dvd drive so only option is to boot and install from USB stick. Help!

It sounds like you need boot options. There are some links regarding boot options in my post here:
