Ubuntu SSD tweaks trashed my /etc/fstab

I created this thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1861277 & fixed the problem BUT the initial situation still remains. My SSD is getting ripped apparently by Ubuntu. With nothing installed it's slowing down very quickly. I read a few threads & some other blogs then followed this:

I only got as far as adding the following to my fstab:

noatime,discard,data=orderedit looked like this:

swap sw 0 0I could not get into my system.

SO, what did I do wrong? I can't fathom anything as I copied what was on the other site straight in. If I did nothing wrong, how can I tweak this install to stop constantly accessing my SSD as that blog states?
Please provide insight or I am going to have to leave Ubuntu & lose the three weeks I've spent here learning....... please help

^^successfully added the above to /etc/fstab & it's working.

& some others. scared to try the rest after yesterday but it sounds as if this at least needs done for the ssd:

If you have several disks or a mix of SSD and mechanical disks, install the sysfsutils package and add the following line at the end of /etc/sysfs.conf:
block/sda/queue/scheduler = noop
