Hi there. For a couple of years I've been using openbox over my xubuntu. But now I decided to try regular ubuntu with gnome.

Back then, after installing openbox and login in with it, every other time I turned on my system, it went straight to openbox.

But now, if I log out from gnome, login with openbox, the next time I turn it on, it goes back to gnome.

How can I change my default session?

Stating a number or name of the Ubuntu version you are running would have been nice. :P

But so, I'm just guessing; you might be running Oneiric 11.10, with LightDM as the display manager (default in 11.10).
If yes to both, please see this guide how to change its auto-login settings:

Hope I guessed right! ;-)

It is easy you need to select the session at the login screen and once it is done it will stay that way till you edit.

Not for auto-login, which the OP was asking for. ;-)

But yes, that's true for GDM.

I am using 11.04 where this opption is available under

system settings -> Control Center -> Login Screen

Same should be there even in 11.10.

Check the attached screen shot.
