11.10 Text fields quit working during install

I was tryig to install 11.10 on an old Dell Precision 360, in the middle of the location selection, all the text fields suddenly become static, and I can highlight them, but not edit. This makes creating the first user account to finish the installation impossible.

Any ideas?
