I have just finished downloading "lubuntu-11.10-desktop-i386.iso" from ubuntu site and made a bootable USB out of it using Unetbootin

After booting in and chosing install lubuntu, i get a desktop with and"Install Lubuntu 11.10" icon on it. When i double click it, nothing happens!

Note: I have a working Ubuntu installation which i was about to replace with lubuntu

So how do i install Lubuntu now? Anything i can do to launch the installer from the terminal or something else?

have you check the test for errors in the menu after booting from USB ? Is that iso is good , have you checked the checksum of that ISO ?

@yayaya029:
You could burn it to a CD - sometimes the host OS doesn't recognize a USB the way it does a CD. And if you do, one warning: sometimes it will open with only a terminal. If it does, just enter:
sudo start lxdm

Good luck!
