Since upgrading to 11.10 yesterday I have logged in to a screen with no launcher, no time, no ubuntu logo etc. I think unity is not properly installed, on trying to reset it I see "couldn't load plugin 'unityshell'" and a list of other plugin loading errors. I have tried creating a new user but that doesn't work. I have tried reinstalling parts following instructions on other threads but nothing seems to work. I was working in classic mode with 11.04 so am not familiar with unity at all. Is there any way to uninstall 11.10 and go back to 11.04?

I think you cant move back.so open the software manager and try to re install the unity.

or do this

unity --reset

All The best.
