Yesterday I upgraded to 11.10 and it seems the sound applet is really misbehaving.
Normally the task/system/info/something-bar at the top of screen looks like this:

But when I click it or just move my mouse over it the whole bar flickers on both my screens and it looks like this;

This was working fine in 11.04.
