View Full Version : Ubuntu virtual tour on their website

I've seen no one mention this, but I think it's kind of cool. If you go to Ubuntu's website and click the "Take a tour" button, it brings you to a virtual in-browser version of the Unity desktop. O_o

I just love the fact that they somehow managed to make the tour more stable than the actual thing in my machine.

It's looking good! I think the web version is even a little more responsive then my actual desktop version.
I'm thinking of just upgrading to Ubuntu WebOS! :p

Maybe we will be seeing a fully-functional browser-based Ubuntu.
Jolicloud already does it.

This is pretty crazy. The video player works. You can install programs in the Software Center and they appear in the Dash. You can pretend to send e-mails.
Unfortunately, you can't use right-click menus or the menubar; it doesn't even appear. This is an impressive waste of developer time :-)

The funniest thing to me is that it's more responsive in my browser here on Lucid than it was when I installed it for real.

i looked in thunderbird and under 'Secure' it says it comes with a builtin firewall and virus protection. what virus protection do they mean?

I saw this the other day. Pretty cool. It's a pretty good idea.
