upgraded to 11.10. upgrade was smooth. on restart, after giving login password a small error window appeared ' failed to upgrade ICEauthority file /home/......./.ICEauthority '. it has a button 'log out' and whatever i do i only log out and go back to login sscreen. i can login as a guest. i can also login to terminal which i did and triedd to update using 'sudo apt-get update' in the hope to recover any missing files but that did not help.
