Sorry for making two threads--can't edit subject line once a thread is posted :)

I'm also trying to find the theme management part of the Appearance settings. Now the appearance settings only allow you to change the wallpaper.

at the bottom of that window you can find the theme setting

I only see two overall themes listed there--am looking for the detailed list of options for controls, window borders etc. with option to see more online.

You can get a few more options by installing GNOME Tweak Tool:
sudo apt-get install gnome-tweak-tool

Thanks, that works!

(Really I was just looking for a theme that doesn't put light gray text on a white window in Ubuntu Software Center, for example.)
