Hi :)

I've upgraded froom 11.04 to 11.10 today. Installed gnome-panel (because Unity is too buggy) again and put the app icons back to the top panel. But I can't move them freely, onle three positions are possible, left, middle or right.

Is there way to put them at any location on the panel?

No, that is an intentional limitation. Among other things, it helps the panel handle resolution changes without scrambling the applet layout. I guess a firefox-style spacer applet might be useful.

I must say that REALLY sucks, since I want my panel to look more or less like this --> http://kuvaton.com/k/Yt35.jpg

How can it be tweaked back to "normal" ?

Installing Gnome Classic is the only way to get the Gnome 2 panel behavior back . If installed use the gear icon in the login screen to select it . To add and move items us Alt + Right Click. Gnome 2 is no longer supported by Gnome.
