First, using Ubuntu 11.04, Natty.

So what I want to do, as the title implies, write a quick shell script to open an application in a window of a specified height, width and x/y offset. Any advice?

Alternately, is there a way to maximize the window without having it cut into the launcher's personal space by simply hitting the maximize button? Am I missing a setting?

Thanks for your time!
