Me and a friend are going to get together Friday and have a homemade pizza and install "party". I'm already running 11.10 on my desktop, but I'm gonna put Kubuntu 64 on my laptop. I'm not a huge kde fan, but I want something different with bling for my lappie. My friend is currently on Fedora right now, but he can't wait to get back to Ubuntu. Should be a good time.

I'm afraid not, none of my friends in real life are geeks though some do use ubuntu.

Unfortunately no - maybe 12.04 will make it happen.

I discovered that there is a release party in a bar in Leeds UK tomorrow and am thinking about turning up for it but not sure what what to expect. On the plus side if the release party is rubbish at least I can have a few beers.

Sadly I'm visiting family, so can't attend any of the UK release parties, but I had my own pre release party when I installed Oneiric on my desktop a couple of weeks ago. Beer and pizza were present too :p

I don't think that counts though...

As far as I can work out, our only official release party is 1370 kilometers away, so unfortunately I won't be going - :(

Hmm, now that you mention it, a release party is happening in my town this friday. Maybe I'll drop by, it's a less pathetic way to spend a friday evening that I'd planned on.

I see. I guess the rest of us that choose to celebrate ubuntu, live in a fantasy world?

Btw, I saw the attendee list for the one in London, and it seems there's going to be a lot of people there, including Jono Bacon. Too bad I live in the US.

If anyone knows of one in Connecticut, let me know. I would love to meet other hard core ubuntu users.

I wish there was a party here but only 3 of us use it. We all live in the same house and 2 of us have been using 11.10 for months.

I'll be on the #ubuntu irc channel when on the day of the release. Should be lots of fun!
