My friend recently decided to have a shot at installing Gentoo. He was almost finished when he accidentally made a typo while configuring GRUB. The result was an unbootable system. He got so mad that he decided to ditch Gentoo and install Puppy Linux. He did so, but some sort of error made Puppy's files install alongside Gentoo. When he tried to boot, he ended up in a Gentoo Session that had a "working" apt-get. By working, I mean it could download and install packages, though what it installed only had about a 50% chance of working. Anything emerged worked without any noticeable problems. Anyone else have stories of weird side-effects of Linux errors?
