A while back, I scored a very nice condition model M IBM keyboard for 10 dollars. Types like a dream. Anyone else like these old (indestructible) clicky keyboards better?

It seems they are still popular with some people. http://www.clickykeyboards.com/

They don't make 'em like they use to ;)

There are hacks to convert older keyboards to USB. You can also restore the plastic colour to new if it has yellowed, http://retr0bright.wikispaces.com/

Luckily my computer still has a PS2 connector. Mine is quite grey, but Im familiar with the retrobright from my retro computer hobby. Thanks for posting it though.

I don't see the appeal. I prefer the newer scissor or chicklet styled keyboards.

It ends up feeling less fatiguing to type on, for me, at least for extended periods of time.

You can still get new keyboards very similar to the Model M. They even offer a couple tailored for Linux. This company seems to have bought the keyboard business from IBM/Lexmark. I'm considering a space saver which is 18" wide. I have no association with the company beyond wanting one.

The biggest problem with them is they ain't quiet. OTOH you can apparently replace the "windows" key cap or other keys with a customized key cap of your choice. And they're apparently heavy and stout enough for self defense purposes. :P

Keyboards don't matter much to me, I'm slow on all of them.

I don't understand what "a clicky keyboard" means.
I have a steelseries 6Gv2 which has cherry blacks but I'd like to try a keyboard with cherry blues or cherry browns.
It's the nicest keyboard that I have used for typing but I get the feeling that it would be nicer if I knew at what point the keypress is registered so I don't bottom out.

It simply means that the keys make a relatively loud clicking sound when pressed. Plus people say that the spring loaded keys add more tactile feedback. But it's definitely not for everyone.

I don't know if I've ever tried the IBM Model M keyboard. Probably not. But the Apple Extended Keyboard 2 was the best keyboard I ever used. It seemed like all PC keyboards at the time were rubbish.

I think the appeal for me would be that satisfying click instead of that dull thud sound on chicklet keys. I have to get me one of these.
