This laptop which has a good specification (4GB of memory and 500GB hard drive) loads and runs perfectly Ubuntu 10.10. It will not load and run 11.04. Not even when doing a download upgrade of 11.04.
Can anyone explain why please?

exactly what happens when you try to install 11.04.
does it have a graphic card by chance.

have you re burnt the cd installation disc at a lower speed :D

The laptop graphics are supplied by the motherboard.
I did not burn a CD, I used the one supplied by the LinuxFormat mgazine.

When installing from the CD the screen was blank throughout the process and therefore useless.
When upgrading over the internet from the Ubuntu repository the screen showed everything as normal, but after rebooting the screen once again was blank. I had to reload 10.10 again which works perfectly.
