i have ubuntu 11.4 on my pc, but i thing it's not very stable, i try many distro, but i think ubuntu is the best for me.
with ubuntu 10.10 i don't have any problem, but with 11.4 many times it's freeze or make some problems (i use classic desktop, i don't like unity) so... maby to try 10.4 TLS for more stability??
or to wait the 11.10???? ](*,)

But do the fresh install, if you have a /home directory on a separate partition then it is even better. you just re-use your /home without formatting (all your settings will be there untouched)

Install 10.04 LtS yeah. for a start the support for 10.10 will run out in April, but Lucid will go on until 2013. By that time you'll be settled into Ubuntu nicely... And you can try out 11.10 in a vm or a separate partition anyway.
