Hi, I'm new to the forums so bare with me :)

I installed mythbuntu (with great difficulty) however after a reboot I choose from the GRUB menu and after 20 seconds the screen just turns on and stays off (I left it going all night). I then decided to install Ubuntu however, after choosing to install to HDD the 5 dots colour and un-colour for a few minutes then they all colour and remain like that forever (I also left it on all night)

The only way I got mythbuntu installed is through running the installer in windows XP then installing. I now cant do this because I have no working OS. I also cannot access the command line (unless there is a way before it has booted??) or error logs and no errors are returned.

Recovery mode behaves the same way however before dying out it posts "worker (xyz) did not like value (-1) connection bad, kill it" (or something like that)

I have checked the disk and memory for errors neither have them

Hardware:
intel celeron 1.73 single core
intel onboard graphics
i845 chipset
512mb RAM
40 gb IDE HDD
2x IDE cd drives (not DVD)
PCI wireless card
PCI ethernet card

Trying to install Ubuntu 11.04, 32 bit

Any help is welcome !! :D
