has anyone installed 11.04 onto sandisk's usb flash drive?

Yes, you need to remove the U3 software as described.

I have Ubuntu (not 11.04 but I don't think that makes a difference) on a Sandisk with U3 and it is certainly bootable, 'usb-os'. There is a data partition too, 'SANDISK4GB'. Windows can see and use 'U3' and 'SANDISK4GB', while linux can see all of them (but cannot use 'U3')
