Hi... as you can see this is my first post.

I am trying to install Ubuntu 11.04. It is going on an old box, but has 40GB main drive as well as a sata storage drive, 1.5GB RAM and a 2.8 GHz celeron chip. I have had Ubuntu server on it before so not sure why this is not working. I also tried to install an old disc i had with Ubuntu 10.04 on it but the same thing happens.

So boot from the cd and all seems to go well, cd drive is humming and hdd kicks in after a bit too. Splash screen comes up and all seems good. Then it just stops! and there is nothing happening at all, keyboard is dead and all i can to is a hard reset.

At the moment this box has Win 8 developer preview on it cause i thought it wuold be cool to see what the dark side is doing... haha! Looks nice but need something functional, fast and easy to use :).

Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks,
Maarten

What graphics card is in use?
There have been some reports of Win 8 not co-operating fully with other installations. Maybe google around or use the search for more info there.
