A lot of us have been marvelling at the hilarious motion-sensor enabled software to turn a MacBook into a SmackBook, switching desktops with a light tap to the side of the machine.

Well, it turns out the experience seen above can be yours, thanks to creator Erling Ellingsen. All the code is GPLed. If it's too intimidating, head over to SquareJelly to get step-by-step instructions for installation. This is very early software, and it's practically useless, but the growing field of whimsical motion-sensor apps is incredibly exciting.

It's like the Nintendo Wii's DNA slipping out to other platforms -- well, OS X, anyway...

Here is a C++ code to run a kind of smoother smackbook. No need to hit it, just tilt it, refer to the program header for more information.

see the file smacc.txt. Change the extension to .cpp

compiling : you need gcc :
make smacc (in the appropriate folder)
usage :
./smacc

Enjoy!

Interesting.

I was wondering how there could be a RAV TUX thread with only 4 replies.
