i am new to ubuntu. i want to install idm on my ubuntu ( that too for free) but i dont know how to do it please help me in this regard.

Welcome to the forums. I hope your experience here will be both helpful and pleasant.

I'm assuming idm is Internet Download Manager.

It seems to be a Windows only program, and while it might (or mightn't) run under WINE, I doubt it will integrate with the native Firefox or Chrome/Chromium running under Ubuntu...

There are native alternatives listed here:
http://www.ubuntugeek.com/list-of-download-managers-available-in-ubuntu.html
But I've not tried any of them myself.

Hi imran , please dont for IDM .because its not going to work through wine. I have tested IDM through wine.its give up. so if you want download managers you can go for fatrat or gwget.
