I have had a basic Linux course and now am working on my Linux+ in my BA program. But I still feel like a noob.
To better learn Linux, I have choose to do an full (not live) install on my EEE Pc netbook. Don't care for Duel boot, just a str8t install so I can learn.
1) I have been following this guideline:
http://www.sampletheweb.com/2007/12/09/ubuntu-on-the-asus-eee-pc-part-1-or-how-to-run-a-functional-ubuntu-install-off-a-usb-drive/
2) And get stalled on this:
http://www.pendrivelinux.com/usb-ubuntu-710-gutsy-gibbon-install/
Usually on #11.
My thoughts:
1) Isn't the second partition suppose to be set up as a Linux Swap? Ext3 hex code)
2) The apps tool wont install.
3) I have installed Win7 on the Netbook before via USB and I had no problems.
I have been trying to use this (But it never works):
http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/
The PC Never "Sees" or boots from the USb.
And sometimes it wont "see" the .iso file even thought I know its location, name and am sure it's a .iso.
So. Whats by best plan? I am running Win 7 on my desktop with a VM Ware running Ubuntu that I burned to a DVD via a .iso file (live cd). I have a full network and have massive resources (AMD 6 Core, water cooled triple monitor display).
Should I continue to fight with the USB (I would learn more) or try a network install?
How owuld I set up Win 7 (or the Virtual machine) to do that without making Windows Homegroup mad?
Much respect, I am glad to be part of the community.
