I recently had to change the monitor I use on my Ubuntu 10.04LTS box. The old monitor (RIP) was 1280x1024, the new one, best I could get, is 1024x768. The resolution of the logon screen is still 1280x1024, and I don't see any way to change that. Once I log on (blind), my desktop works fine and is visible; I did reset that OK. But evidently changes to desktop resolution don't get back to the logon screen. I have looked at /etc/X11/xorg.conf and there are no resolutions listed in there. What do I need to hunt down to change that resolution to something that I can see?
