hi, i'm going away for a few days to the countryside. i won't have much access to the internet and i don't have a laptop atm. so i thought it might be a good idea to buy a book so i can learn abit more about linux.

i think Ubuntu will be my main OS for awhile, but that might not be that important when looking for a Linux book. so, can anyone recommend one good linux book which will teach as much as a book can? thanks.

My favourite book is Linux Bible 2005 Edition. I explains many things which I found useful.

Linux Bible

and maybe Running Linux, i don't know too much about it

i'd like something like this below, are any of them similar to this?

Martin F Krafft's "The debian system. Concepts and techniques" is a nice read imo. You get a thorough introduction to a number of core concepts in debian based systems, and learn a lot about why things are the way they are in your OS. It's also a very readable book -- a few of those you mention, like the Linux Bible, are more encyclopedic in character.
