I am Y. Sai Manoj Kumar from Vijayawada studying B.Tech final year in Computers branch.
I am a fan of Ubuntu. I got a chance to create awareness regarding Ubuntu in our college by giving a seminar in our college. I have already suggested many of my friends to use Ubuntu and some of them are enjoying it (like me!!). Now, after a long time, I got a chance to promote ubuntu in our college to a large group of students at a time( nearly 300 to 400 students). :)

So, please give me some tips on how to introduce Ubuntu to them so that most of them will start using it.

I think I have what you need, well I know where it is. It sounds like it is just what you need. http://spreadubuntu.org/

There is a lot of material of many kinds available on this site. I haven't looked at it in the last few days but you may find it lacking only in stuff specific to oneiric.

The sources of all are available so you can customize if you need.

+1 Good link, Blasphemist.

I would include a comment that Linux is not Windows, some applications just do not work or have full equivalents in Linux. But Linux also has many advantages.

Put a plug in for the forums.:) We are always here to help and will help those who want to dual boot to keep using whatever they have but also boot Ubuntu and learn it. Hopefully they also then become fans.

If you can or want to get into history or details some of the books have indexes that can be an outline for discussion and sources for more info.

I like to show the UNIX timeline (http://www.levenez.com/unix/) to help put the project into context. It makes a nice poster. It's useful to be able to point out that the project did not happen in a vacuum and is built on decades of work from some of the best minds on the planet.

Thanks to you, Blasphemist, oldfred, Lars Nooden.
Can anyone provide me with a presentation regarding benefits of using linux and ubuntu from an ordinary user perspective.
