I hava a Compaq presario cq56-102 SE laptop.
I installed ubuntu 11.04 on it.
Now my laptop detects networks and finds all of the wireless networks in range.
but I can't access them.beacause of an error that say:authentication required.
the network don't have any password and is open.I checked AP configuration
and set authentication type on disabled.

also when I turn off the wirelss adapter the LED of wirelss device blinks.
the network adapter model is Ralink RT3090 with 802.11 b/g/n standards.
I thing the driver have a problem.but I can't install driver.I'am a bigginer.
I downloaded the driver from Ralink website.how can I install the driver?
I need a step by step help.

You are probably going to need to set it to something. Do that and see if you can connect, then you know it is not the card at least and you can stop looking there. WEP is fine.

I set it the authentication type to all of the items in list.but the problem already exists.
last week I installed fedora 14 . I had this problem with fedora too.
