Intel Mac Instal Help Please

Thanks, what its is is I partitioned my macbook pro hard drive to accomodate Ubuntu with MS-DOS Fat. I installed refit on OS X and installed Ubuntu to the partition with the instructions provided online. All was going well untill after the install when I shutdown and restarted refit, only to find when selecting Ubuntu it would load grub, Ubuntu would be selected and then it would move onto a black screen with a flashing cursor and stay there forever more. What I will mention is to get the Ubuntu CD to run at all either to run install or just try from CD I had to press F6 on the initial Ubuntu menu, press escape and type nouveau.noaccel=1 as per instructions I found online. This is the only way the CD would work. Something to do with the graphics card? Is this what is stopping Ubuntu boot from partition?

PLEASE PLEASE help I have been struggling with this for a while now.
