Rather... I'd like to say that. =]

I am still learning *nix. So please be nice. ;D I'm really digging kde as opposed to gnome. I started out with gnome however. But I'd like to rip it all out, and use just kde. Is that possible with the share libraries and what not? Or, should I just wipe and install kubuntu out the door? I'd really rather not reinstall - if possible. PITA to put everything back. LoL TIA!!!

Hello and Welcome

I would wait 20 + days and do clean installation of Kubuntu 11.10 . Clean installations are my personal preference .

I installed KDE several versions ago by just installing the desktop. But then when I decided I did not like it I could not easily uninstall as I have several KDE apps that I prefer. I then decided only a clean install.

You can just install the kde desktop:
The key meta packages of Ubuntu are :
ubuntu-base (the whole base system which everybody should install)
ubuntu-desktop (the whole gnome environment)
kubuntu-desktop (the whole kde environment)

If you do something like this be sure to install kde before deleting the other desktop as you may not be able to boot.

Hey Frogs. Hey Fred. =]

Heh. I only started playing around with *nix OS recently. Started with BackTrack. Then onto ubuntu. I've tried a couple of other one's as well, but I like the debian styled OS the best. I really like ubuntu, but after trying Gnome, Gnome3 and KDE - I find I like KDE the best. Wish I had better hardware, but... Meh.

I think I'm going to go ahead and wipe and start fresh with kubuntu out the door. 'Spose now is the time to learn fdisk and working with partions. =] Thanks for the headway fella's!! Make it a great one!!

Personally, I would just remove GNOME and install KDE without re-installing. I did this and it worked great! Have a look at this page (http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/purekde) for more information. Note that if you want KDE 4.7.0 (11.04 comes with I think 4.6.2), you'll need to enable the Kubuntu Backports PPA (https://launchpad.net/~kubuntu-ppa/+archive/backports). It will be a little less stable, so consider carefully before deciding to use it (if your new, I wouldn't really recommend it, but I decided to mention it just in case).
