I have wubi on an xp laptop. My plan is to back up files from XP (done) and wubi. Unfortunately just today wubi stopped booting. I thought if I install ubuntu on a usb memory stick it could see the wubi files but this doesn't seem to work. Trying to boot wubi leaves me off in some sort of command line nightmare called "ash".
Its only a few files I'm not sure I backed up. This is frustrating. I'm concerned that if I re-install wubi my files will be gone. All I need is access to the files.
After this I plan to only run ubuntu on the laptop because I figure this should be clean.
