Hello people.

I am attempting (unsuccessfully, so far) to install 11.04 to a RAID 0 array using the alternative installer. I'm having a whole bunch of problems getting it to boot. I think the furthest I got so far was a screen that looked like it had attempted the splash screen (purple with the 5 dots) but then fallen back to a terminal. At one point I could see an error do do with drivers for my TV tuner card so I hoiked that out. Now I get the blinking cursor and I get messages if I plug in a USB drive or Ctrl-Alt-Del to restart it. I can't type commands. I am assuming that that this point it had made it though grub and has actually loaded Linux?

Also, in the alternative installer, on the software selection screen, it gives Ubuntu desktop as an option. If I don't have that, do I not get a GUI? When I try to install it I get an error and it fails.

Many thanks in advance.
