Good Evening Chaps and possibly Chapesses,

Touch screen technology isnt as new as some of you may believe.

I remember some years ago being on a trip with our Year 9 pupils to a water treatment plant. this was probably in the mid 90s.
The Scada equipment had the HMI via touch screen and one of my colleagues whom I shall call Mr X, but whose real name is Andrew, was invited to start a pump by touching the appropriate part of the HMI with his index finger.
Surrounded by excited children and sceptical teaching staff he extended his finger and a visible lightning bolt sped from his finger tip to the HMI screen with the unfortunate result that the monitor expired.

That was a long time ago. But what of today? Has anyone any first hand stories of static electricity problems with the new touch screens?

Edit: Mr X still teaches year 9 !!
