Preinstalled or do it myself

Okay, so I'm having a dilemma of sorts. I want to get a new laptop, and at work I got a system76 laptop with 11.04 preinstalled, and it's awesome. Is it more fiscally sound and good for my sanity to go this route, or purchase any old laptop and and install it myself?

I have install ubuntu before.
