so, got a call from the scammers.

what fun, acted like an idiot for 30 mins.

then told him i new he was tring to scam me,

actually got asked if i could prove it,

said yes, all those error meassages you said you where getting from my windows machine, rubbish, my machine runs linux.

didn't seem to be liking that answer.

he said

Awww. :P Though yeah, it would be amusing to get such a call. I should add this to my "How To Browse The Web Smartly" class as something to avoid.

Apparently, some of these scammers actually use a mobile phone network. If they hang up and you don't, they can't dial out because you're still on the line.

So, don't hang up unless you really need to. Fewer lines == more wasted time for them.

I'm not sure I would call it a nice prank. It seems pretty mean. The scammer might have told people that he would pay them for doing the writing after he got the money. The people who did the writing might not have got paid, so they would be the ones getting cheated, not the scammer.

What is the message that the scammer would get from this fraud? Not to scam? No, the message he would learn would be not to do honest work.

The better scambaiters punish the scammer for scamming, not for honest work.
