I always use Windows XP in a virtual machine because of Office. Its the consistency between open office and opening the same doc in word that is the problem for work. The problem with running office 2003 in Wine is that it is so sluggish, hence the virtual machine.

I was having a tidy in the garage today and found an original office 97 small business edition cd and serial. Don't ask me how I acquired it lol. There must be 10 years all CD's in there.

Anyway I thought I would give this a try in Wine, installed perfectly and Word and Excel work brilliantly. Not one glitch for what I require. Ok I know its office 97, but I am only need it for basic things so I am really happy. It even has that annoying paper clip.

I know Word 2007 and Excel 2007 work great in wine.

My friend still uses Office 97. Don't even get me started about Clippy...

Sometimes Power Point gets weird, but I don't have problems with Word and Excel 2007.
