Hi,
I tried to boot ubuntu 11.04(32 bit) on my desktop using a usb stick. Everything is fine up to the live cd or hard disk install option menu, after selecting any one of them it stuck at "stopping system v run level compatibility" followed by "Authentication failure" messages.I have windows 7 ultimate 32 bit installed in my system.please help!!

System specs are:

Processor -Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E5700 @ 3.00GHz 6.4 3.5
Memory -(RAM) 2.00 GB
Graphics -Intel(R) G41 Express Chipset
System is 64 bit capable

Hi and welcome to the forums :)

If the system is 64bit capable why not try the Ubuntu 64bit version?

The specifications look good to me so I think it is at least worth a shot.

By the way, did you try the 32bit version in live mode first or did you just go straight for the installation?

If yes to live mode, were there any issues that might indicate why installation is failing here?

Finally, did you check the integrity of the image?
