I downloaded 11.04 and tried to start a live session on my new Aser 5336 laptop (with the plan to install when up and running).
However, I just get a blank screen after the initial menu page.
This also happened with Mint and Kubuntu (bit worked with OpenSuse)and google-ing the problem there are some tweaks apparently that can be done but I'd rather not 'play around' too much. Ubuntu has always worked fine out-of-the-box before!
Any suggestions?

Cheers

Yes, you could try applying boot options. There are links explaining how to here:

From my experience, if you have the blank screen problem on the Live CD, you'll also have them once you get 11.04 installed.

Linux Mint 11 is based on 11.04, so that's why you are having similar problems with that distro.

If you don't feel like banging your head against a wall for days or weeks (or months in my case) trying to fix the problem, I would just install 10.10 (or 10.04 LTS) for now, and hope these blank screen problems are fixed next month when 11.10 is released.

My .03 cents.
