I need help quickly, I am working on a system at work which requires mysql to run other programs, after an update on the system mysql does not start (it no longer creates the files in /var/run/mysqld/ in which it is supposed to create a .sock file). I attempted to uninstall and reinstall mysql, however that also unistalled some of the systems which rely on it, an attemppt to reinstall mysql and the other programs result in the programs entering an infinate loop waiting for mysql to start.
If somebody could help me with this problem I would greatly appreciate it.
