View Full Version : [SOLVED] wired and wifi connection not working after upgrade to 11.04

Hello,
yesterday I upgraded the distribution from 10.10 to 11.04 and since then I have some strange problems.
Firstly, my wireless connection didn't work, the computer said, that I'm online, but I couldn't launch a single page with FireFox, skype or run another inet-app. Then I connected my laptop with the inet cable and after a restart I was online. However, today, as I started the laptop I couldn't get connect either with the cable, nor wireless. The strange thing was, that the icon on the left side always tells me, that I'm connected and I could chat with skype, but that was the only inet program working. FireFox always gives me a "problem loading page" error and the system tells me I have connection problems.
Thank you very much for your help!
Irina

Do you need the firewall with Ubuntu? Try:

sudo dhclient eth0
ifconfig eth0

Router-firmware is up-to-date? Checked the BIOS for those cards?

Checkbox all user rights in Users&Groups, remove your wired profile and reboot.

Oh, for wireless: You created an Ad-Hoc-network, means internet connection sharing. Remove the wireless profile and create a new one in "Infrastructure"-mode.
