alright, whenever i try to install something using either the terminal or the software center, i get errors of installation. the program im currently installing installs correctly, but i get this error:

Errors were encountered while processing:
linux-image-2.6.38-11-generic
linux-image-generic
linux-generic
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

then, my power icon turns red (for when you need to reset), and i do that... and the next time i try to install, it does it again. i have done this at least 5 times now, and i get the same results every time. i also noticed that when i am about to say yes to the installer, i get this message;

0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 1 not upgraded.
3 not fully installed or removed.

and since there are three programs causing this error, i assume that these three programs have not fully installed. my question is, how can i fix this?
