I'm using Xubuntu on a Thinkpad T500. I'd like to setup power management to turn off my monitor after some period of time. I don't want the networking turned off or hard drive powered down. I only want the power to the monitor turned off. The only thing I've figured out so far is to set a blank screensaver. I'd prefer the monitor to be turned off (no hibernate).

look in the power management menu in the settings menu or system menu . there you can set when you want to turn off your monitor & how much delay . everything you can get from there .

go to settings manager in that 'start menu' button. press on screensaver tab then choose advanced at the top. enable power management and in the option 'off after ' choose after how many minutes u want the monitor to switch off.
