Hi! I'm pretty new to ubuntu and I want something fun to put my teeths in.

I've done an SMF forum, put apache, mysql, php and iptables up and now I'm looking for more. Please post some replies on something fun and challenging to do so that I can learn more of Ubuntu!

Run Asterisk@Home (http://asteriskathome.sourceforge.net/).

I looked a bit on asterisk@home but since I have no need for ip voice communication plus no microphone or speakers, I'd be more interested in other things to put my mind into. Thanks alot for the tip though :)

Anyone else who has got something amusing but still educative for me to do? :p

You might have better luck posting in the ubuntu cafe. http://www.ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=30&f=11 They are more experienced, usually, and there are more threads like your own. Beginners might not know all the programs etc available.

You may try Gentoo or Archlinux....

Tried Gentoo. It's cool that it gets super optimized to your computer, but I'm looking for something to do in my Ubuntu dist. Did some work on Compiz as well, but it didn't really work out. Think it has something to do with my graphic card.

Anyone got some more ideas to provide me with?

Set up a LTSP (http://web.vcs.u52.k12.me.us/moodle/mod/resource/view.php?id=81)?

I'll do that. Let's see how this works :)

Edit: That howto was for Hoary Hedgehog and doesn't seem to be the right one for Dapper Beta. Is there a howto for Dapper or is it the same as Breezy?

Look here:

Also, try searching the wiki for more ltsp.

I figure running a DHCP server on a corprate network isn't the best idea to do, so sadly, even though it sounds really interesting, I'll pass on trying thin clients as well

How about setting up qemu to run another distro/OS under linux?

(I'm on the way of setting my Dapper inside Dapper to test this)

Works great. Now I just have to speed it up.
