On my system (tested with Debian Sqeeze and xubuntu), I have the Ralink RT3070sta card built into my slate. I have a kernel module for this device (RT3070sta.ko) loaded at start up and wicd-network-manager wouldn't find any network devices (yet ra0 still displays with the iwconfig command) so I went ahead and downloaded and installed the latest firmware-ralink deb package and installed it, since then it causes X to crash.

Any idea's why?

EDIT:

I removed the firmware-ralink package from the console and just scanning for a wirless network crashed the device.
