View Full Version : Application for membership - anewguy

I would like to apply for Ubuntu membership.
My wiki page is here:
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/anewguy
and my Launchpad page is here:
launchpad.net/~anewguy
== EDIT ==
I hope you'll forgive the addition to this initial post:
I truly welcome all honest opinions about me. I also don't believe that the number of people who post on my behalf will have any sway on my request - with perhaps, the exception of a couple. So, I'm not campaigning for votes, but rather really welcome just honest opinions of how I've been doing.
== END OF EDIT ==
Thank you

Thanks for the encouragement! I've looked at other members wikis, etc., and I just don't know if I measure up or not. I hope so!
Thanks again!

He looks down, shuffling the toe of his shoe side to side, trying to hide his embarrassment. Thanks for that - I need to go get that changed right away! ;)
Thanks again!

I'll probably come back to elaborate. I had no time this week to come down and do my stuff for the membership application. +1 with a more complete review later :)

Thank you so much bapoumba! As is probably well known, I'm no expert at anything, particularly like a lot of the people are. My main thing has been to try to help the beginner the way that people helped me - hopefully I've gained enough knowledge to be able to help, plus I still learn a lot that way. Sometimes I see someones problem and have no clue, so I do things like install the package in question, try to "make" it, etc., just to see if I can duplicate their problem and try to find a fix. If it helps them it's great, plus I just learn more in the process! Other times I see someone has the same piece of hardware I do so I try to get them set up the way mine is to get theirs to work - with a little bit of background knowledge of course! ;)
At any rate, didn't mean to go on there - I just wanted to thank you for recognizing what I try to do - not the best, not the worst, just trying to help. With something as great as Ubuntu, and all of the support it takes in the background to keep it that way, I just try to do my little part where I can.

Comment on my Ubuntu Membership App - be honest! (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1838585)
LOL when I first saw this link I thought:
App for automating the Application Process... and you wanted reviews/critique for the app.
Oh dumb Me!
+1 for what you do around here!

Thanks very much! never thought about that with the avatar - it's supposed to be the closest thing I could find to Bill the Cat from the old Bloom County cartoon without getting clobbered for copyright like I did on a previous avatar. I thought having "DOG!" there would remind people of the animated movie (Up??) where the dog is talking and suddenly just yells "SQUIRREL".
