i find ths hard to believe, but supposedly Samsungs new Galaxy Tab 7.7 (meaning 7.7" screen) will have 8gb of RAM. thats right, i said RAM, not flash storage, RAM. i for one find this hard to believe, considering that they are claiming to have jumped from 1gb (which has been the standard on Android tablets thus far) to 8 times that amount. if they pulled it off, this will be one heck of a tablet (also has dual core 1.4ghz processor and Super AMOLED Plus display). it will also have one heck of a price tag, i imagine.

What are you going to do on a tablet that needs eight gigs of RAM?

I don't even have a fourth of that, and I still have a third of it left.

Real programmers dont need RAM! All we need are a few registers and some sun chips.

Yes.

Umm, I have 4 GB on my desktop and I rarely even use half of it. Why would I need twice what I already have, on a tablet?

It must be a misprint, and they mean 8 GiB of flash storage.

I'd much rather have 1-2gb of ram and have the tablet priced lower.
8gb would be a waste.

The question is though, if there are 8GB RAM in it, why is it still an ANDROID tablet?

Someone better port some linux to it already.

RAM? Gimme! I await the day when I can graduate from my Pentium IV which was upgraded to 1 GB RAM last year...

What does a phone/tablet operating system actually DO with a gig of RAM? I noticed the Galaxy S2 comes with this much. My HTC Desire has 576 MiB of RAM, which I would have thought would be plenty considering how Android can run on a smaller footprint than Ubuntu :-)

"keep alive" such amount of ram won't consume battery mindlessly?

Yes.The Intellivision had 1456 bytes of RAM. :)

It must be a misprint, and they mean 8 GiB of flash storage. That was my thought. I highly doubt if it really has that much RAM.

I don't think I've ever used more than half of my RAM at one time (I have 4GB).
And this is a desktop!!!
If Android 4.0 ICS is that heavy, my rooted HTC Aria with 256MB of RAM won't have a hope. :(

This is a fun game, but it has one gig of RAM. Source (http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_tab_7_7-review-638.php), source (http://www.phonearena.com/phones/Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-7.7_id6115).

Or this is a markeding stunt: It has 8 gigabit of ram, which is 1 gigabyte of RAM.
Makes sense.

It's a mistake. The smallest model has 8gb of flash memory.
