It's out of control.

Ridiculous...

If you notice, only a few are not suing others (IE: Google, LG, etc.) According to the chart above.

Yes, unlike what quite a few people believe, not all patent-holders use patents to troll.

Most of big companies are not worth their market value, what means the value is an effect of in what do investors belive. Patents (won lawsuits, fines) are one of ways to rise virtual value of the company. Virtual, because value of patent today depends on how many infringements will be prooved.

That chart is missing a lot. Even this one is missing quite a bit (plus it's a year or so old):

The Reuters representation skipped on the small-fry and generally unknown outfits off the equation.

The newer chart has Texas Instruments? Who the heck would troll the great glory of calculator makers?

The new chart has only two apple suing arrows, it should have more actually. Apple will also get a lot more suing ready with those new vague patents it just acquired.

not that it will ever happen.. but imagine the possibilities if all these companies try to build something all together...

I would probably differ on opinion if all these companies merge for me

Glad to see everyone saw the "humor" in the OP and didn't carry on at a tangent moaning about all the patents trolls out there... oh wait... never mind...

You posted something parodying how bad things are getting, and we discussed how bad things are getting. What did you expect us to do?

Ive also patented the word "G'luck." Youre in serious trouble now. If I cant find an identity to sue, Ill sue your avatar.

Sure thing, too bad I don't have an avatar.

We're going far off-topic now. Does Dilbert even have the rights to name Google, Apple, et al?

Dilbert is the only thing bigger than Google and Apple in America at the moment... it is even bigger than China... But only on Wednesdays...
